Payment deferral (instalment pause)
By the CourtImmo editorial team

An option in a flexible loan letting the borrower pause one or more monthly payments, deferring either only the principal portion (partial deferral) or the whole instalment (full deferral). It lengthens the loan term and raises its total cost, but gives breathing room in a rough patch. It differs from rescheduling, which restructures the whole loan.
